RUSSIAN DOLL “Matreshka” WORKSHOP
Last week I was cordially invited to supervise Russian “Matreshka” doll workshop in Manchester University.
The venue
Manchester University enables students to develop their Russian language skills to a superior level. Their interests in and knowledge of a variety of other subject areas (such as film and media studies, sociology, history and politics, literary and cultural studies) are also encouraged. Broad grounding in Russian area studies are provided for all students. Emphasis is set on the integrated study of language, culture and society principles.
My invitation
I was invited to one of cultural workshops to teach and supervise Russian language students with painting Russian Doll – “Matreshka”. The turn out was amazing. Considering that this activity was outside of essential curriculum I was nicely surprised of how many young multi-international students, girls and boys were interested in Russian culture. Matreshka doll workshop is an annual event and this was not my first visit to this wonderful alma mater.
Atmosphere
Some other Russian souvenirs were presented by their Russian language tutor Elena Simms in the beginning of the event. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. I believe students enjoyed the Matreshka doll workshop as much as I. Consequently, there was overwhelming amount of positive energy released during this session. Laughter, jokes and total relaxation were main vibes of the event.
