Many people in their thirties and older suffer from sun-damaged skin, which can present itself in mottled skin tone and areas of abnormal pigmentation. Age or sun spots and freckles are frequently seen types of ‘superficial’ pigmentation, and although benign, they can become an issue of cosmetic concern. IPL systems operate on the principle of selective photo-thermolysis in which target chromophores are selectively damaged with minimal damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
The pulses of light are absorbed by the excess melanin and the area appears refreshed and renewed after around 10-14 days. |

If you were diagnosed with Melasma you may consider having a course of 20-35% Glycolic Peels or Ultrasonic Deep Skin Cleansing followed by Professional Skin Care Products. IPL treatments are not recommended for people suffering with Melasma. It may improve the appearance of pigmentation for a little while but it will come back and might be even darker and more difficult to treat with appropriate for this condition treatments. |
