Factors that can make Acne worse in women, changes in hormone levels may cause acne to flare. Usually it happens 2-7 days before their period. Hormones also change at pregnancy, when you start or finish taking birth control pills. Stress or emotional tension may aggravate the disorder. In addition, certain drugs, including androgens, lithium and barbiturates are known to cause acne. Greasy cosmetic products may alter cells therefore aggravate this skin condition but they do not cause Acne. Also, environment irritants, squeezing or picking at blemishes, and hard scrubbing of the skin can make acne worse.
